Having grocery stores in close proximity is an important item when considering where to live and is a great convenience. Fortunately, if you’re living in Northeast Philadelphia, there are plenty of great grocery store options just a short walk or drive away. Here are some of the best grocery stores in Northeast Philadelphia, categorized by specialty and international, fresh fruit, and traditional.

Bell’s Market – 8330 Bustleton Avenue

Bell’s Market is a local store with two locations, one in Bucks County and one in Northeast Philly. Its Northeast Philly location is perfectly located near the border of several neighborhoods – Bustleton, Fox Chase, Rhawnhurst, and Krewstown making it easily accessible to most of the Northeast. Bell’s has an exhaustive list of specialty and international brands, including lots of choices for European food, fresh organic produce, seafood, meat, dairy, deli products, and a pharmacy. It also has a popular cake department for celebrations or just evening fun.

Petrovsky Market – 9809 Bustleton Avenue

Petrovsky Market is a specialty grocery store selling a variety of Russian and European food, as well as domestic products. Items include caviar, meat, dairy, fish, cheese, pickled cucumber, and marinated foods. They have also offered discounts to seniors, Monday through Thursday. Call ahead to confirm if you’re interested.

House of Kosher – 9806 Bustleton Avenue

Spanning over 13,000 square feet, House of Kosher is one of the newer specialized gourmet stores in the Northeast. They offer a wide range of kosher foods including meats, deli, seafood, bakery items, fruits and vegetables, dairy, and cheese. In the back, is there a freshly prepared food counter with hot meals to go, including pizza. Delivery is also available for select zip codes, and for large catering orders.

NetCost Market – 11701 Bustleton Avenue

In the Somerton neighborhood, right off Bustleton Avenue is the popular NetCost Market which is a local grocer that specializes in foods from Russia and Eastern Europe. It also sells caviar and a selection of bakery and deli products to introduce patrons to tastes from around the world. They also have a location off welsh road near the Boulevard.

Kashmir Garden Super – 9325 Krewstown Road

Kashmir Garden is an Indian grocery store that sells fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, poultry, spices, and general groceries from several countries. It is conveniently located off Krewstown Road

Vatan Market – 11726A Bustleton Avenue

Vatan Market might be located in a shopping strip, but this specialty supermarket offers a wide selection of Russian, Uzbek, Turkish, and other international food. They have meats, chocolates, nuts, coffee beans, cookies, rice, and much more. They also serve halal food.

Kuttanadu Super Market – 8923 Krewstown Road

Kuttanadu Super Market is a 3,000-square-foot Indian grocery store that stocks different kinds of fresh foods, spices, rice, pickles, and other groceries authentic to Indian cuisine.

Green Farm Fresh – 842 Red Lion Road

Just down the street, Green Farm Fresh on Red Lion Road has a huge selection of fruits and vegetables. It is well known among locals for its fresh food and affordable prices.

Evergreen Market – 7500 Verree Road

In Fox Chase, near Cheltenham, Evergreen Market is an independent grocer selling fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, bread, and more. There is a nice selection of potted plants and flowers, as you enter the supermarket, to add to your garden.

Green Farm Market – 1916 Welsh Road

Near Grant Avenue, and not far from the Red Lion Road location, Green Farm Market has a good selection of fruits and vegetables, and other produce. They also carry some potted flowers (in a section outside the store).

Acme Markets – 920 Red Lion Road

Acme Markets is a convenient supermarket chain spot for all types of groceries. From fresh produce to butcher-cut meat to bakery and deli dishes to a pharmacy, everything you need is found here. A gas station is also available.

Shoprite of Roosevelt Blvd – 11000 Roosevelt Blvd

Shoprite is a supermarket chain with groceries, fresh produce, delis, and bakeries. It is known for its assortment of products at value-for-money prices. The Roosevelt Blvd ShopRite also has a pharmacy, so you can get medication and groceries in one shop.

ALDI – 9303 Krewstown Road (Krewstown Shopping Center)

ALDI stocks an assortment of foods and other products at affordable prices. There is plenty of outside parking for your convenience. Make sure you bring a quarter to unlock the shopping cart and your own bags to pack your things.

Giant Food Store – 2550 Grant Avenue

Giant is a large supermarket in one of the newest shopping centers in Northeast Philadelphia offering a range of groceries at affordable prices. A sushi and salad bar are on offer at the Grant Avenue store, along with a pharmacy. There’s also a gas station to fill up after your shop.

Walmart – 9745 Roosevelt Blvd Ste A

Walmart is one of the leading discount stores in America known for carrying a large variety of home goods and also groceries. The Roosevelt Blvd store has a selection of almost everything: food, home improvement supplies, baby products, toys and games, beauty products, art and craft supplies, sports equipment, auto equipment, pet supplies, and even a pharmacy.

Northeast Philadelphia (NE Philadelphia) has an excellent selection of grocery stores that are popular with the local community.

Amazon Fresh – 9960 Roosevelt Blvd

Amazon is getting into the grocery game, and they have a brand new store coming to the heart of Northeast Philadelphia at the intersection of Red Lion Road and the Blvd.
