Unlike most other buildings outside of the City’s downtown, the Ambassador I Apartments have concrete floors/ceilings separating apartments vertically, as well as, concrete party walls between adjacent apartments. While residents in other buildings are constantly complaining about hearing “walking sounds” from their neighbors, our residents live in an environment that protects them against such nuisance noises. Anyone who has lived in a building that lacks sound control, can testify to the importance of concrete floors and walls. Concrete floors, ceilings, and walls are another feature that sets the Ambassador I Apartments apartment from many others, and makes the Ambassador I Apartments so special.
What Other Features Should I Know About when comparing the Ambassador I Apartments to other communities?
Community Wide Surveillance System
The Ambassador I Apartments recently completed and implemented a state-of-the art surveillance system. We don’t know of any other apartment building’s surveillance system that compares in scope, size and sophistication to the system that is currently installed and operating at the Ambassador I Apartments. There are 39 simultaneous camera images focused on the front and rear of each building, and much of the parking lots. The images are all delivered in HD (high definition) color. The system has miles and miles of underground cable, and each camera is independently connected to a computer system. The hard-wired system is incased in conduit, and not dependent on Wi-Fi signals. The most special feature is the ability to share images. The digital images and videos are available to EACH resident. Residents can literally sit on the beach and view images of the Ambassador I Apartments on their smartphones. Each resident has to ability to zoom into a location and magnify the image live, just as they might do with stored photos on their iPhones or Android based phones. The system is simply amazing. The reason other communities don’t offer such a system is simple – it’s very, very expensive to build and operate. Safety is something that the management team of the Ambassador I Apartments doesn’t just talk about. Safety features should be added to every families checklist of features that are important to them when looking for a place to live.
LED Outdoor Lighting
All of the exterior lighting is new at the Ambassador I Apartments. In the evening, the community is brightly lit. The architectural details of the exterior lighting posts match the new wall lights, and are very similar to what one would see on the streets of Paris. The site lighting adds a ‘resort-like’ feel to the community. The high-tech lighting is a first in NE Philadelphia, or for that matter, a first for any Philadelphia (garden) apartment community. The new lighting extends from the front to the rear of each building for an added safety feature. The new lights double the light output (lumens) of our previous lights (and those found in other apartment communities), projecting and emitting light in an off-white soothing “daylight” color. The selection of both color and wattage for all of the new lighting was engineered to maximize light and comfort. Easy Access to Public Transportation
Need to take public transportation to work every day? The Septa Regional Rail West Trenton train is only minutes away and runs as often as every 20 minutes at peak times. If you are driving to work, you have immediate access to highways such as I-95, US-1, and the PA Turnpike. Additionally nearby, and within walking distance, there is an Acme Supermarket, Walgreens and Rite Aid drug stores, the discount store BJ’s Wholesale Outlet, and dozens of smaller retail stores and restaurants. The Y gymnasium, equipped with an indoor track and pool, is also within walking distance. Or, if you’re more of an outdoors person, the bicycle and walking trails of Pennypack Park are mere minutes away.

If you ever lived in other apartments, you certainly understand the importance of sound and fire control. Sound control is perhaps the most important component that affects the quality of life of a resident, and while fire control should be the most important feature in choosing a place to live, it is the most overlooked component. The Ambassador I Apartments fire safety is provided by exterior brick walls, eight-inch concrete party walls, and eight-inch concrete floors which encapsulates all first-floor apartments and separates the first and second-floor apartments. The same systems that offer fire safety work to control sound. The concrete floors and walls at Ambassador I control noise at levels many times greater than any engineered wooden floor (the construction of most other buildings in and around Philadelphia) could possibly provide.
