As a Philly rental and lifestyle blog, we aim to cover the latest and greatest of Philadelphia. From the spectacular views at Ben Franklin Bridge to the meandering running paths at Cobbs Creek Park, Philly has something to offer runners of all skill levels. If you are an avid runner, you’ll naturally want to check out the best websites that cover all the running trails in the Philly area. After some research, here they are –

Greatruns.com

Greatruns.com is a national website focused on the most interesting and iconic runs in major cities. They offer a comprehensive guide to the best places to run in and around Philadelphia. Their list includes some popular city routes including:

  • the waterfront paths at Delaware River;
  • the Schuylkill River Trail; and
  • Pennypack Park.

For those willing to wander a little further away from downtown, there’s a great list of running trails in almost all the counties surrounding Philly too.

Philadelphiarunner.com

Philadelphia Runner is a specialty running company that is much more than just a brick and mortar for runners. Operating since 2004, their goal is to bring together a community of like-minded people to join in on regular runs around different paths in the city.

The company has running groups for nearly everyone. They offer regular runs around Center City, Valley Forge National Park, Manayunk, University City, and Glen Mills. The website also features a local Philly race calendar where you can try out new routes.

Mapmyrun.com

Mapmyrun.com has a large list of running trails uploaded by users across Philadelphia. You can check it out for inspiration and see if any routes make sense.

Mapmyrun.com offers a unique, downloadable application for tracking your workouts on your phone. You can use it to join their global running community and synch your workouts with your Armour Smart Shoes. It’s available on Google and Apple app stores and it’s free.

Eventbrite.com

Eventbrite is an event management and ticketing website that allows users to browse, create and promote local events. The service charges a fee to event organizers in exchange for online ticketing services unless the event is free. There is no charge for browsing.

Eventbrite has a list of the top 5 running routes in Philadelphia. The routes on the list include:

  • Fairmont Park;
  • Wissahickon Valley Park;
  • Schuylkill Banks and Boardwalk;
  • Pennypack Trail; and
  • the Delaware River Trail.

Fitt.co

Fitt Philly has a comprehensive list of running trails from short sprints to longer running sessions. Once again, the Schuylkill Banks and Pennypack Trails enjoy prominent mentions on the list. Other runs include the run route along Kelly Drive, the run route along the Ben Franklin Bridge, Forbidden Drive, and the running route at FDR Park, to name a few.

If you’re keen on doing a few sprints around Philly, check out these websites with some fantastic recommendations for keeping active around the city and figure out what’s best for you. There’s a myriad of running groups and local races as well. If you’re a runner, Philly is a great place to be.
